IGRECA is committed to minimizing its impact on the environment
Energy management
Because today's energy demands are a real economic issue, but also and above all an ecological one, IGRECA keeps a close eye on its consumption levels.
Whether it's gas or electricity, sophisticated dashboards and control devices enable real-time monitoring of requirements for the entire production facility.
Building insulation, the performance of refrigeration and heating equipment, and lighting, are regularly reviewed and optimized. Refrigeration management is fully computerized.
For example, production room lighting has recently been replaced by LED technology, which consumes less energy and requires less maintenance.
To optimize and reduce our carbon footprint, we use 100% washable and recyclable plastic packaging for our eggs.
Selective sorting
Like all industrial players, IGRECA consumes various materials. When they cannot be immediately reconditioned and reused, IGRECA uses specialized recycling channels.
In this way, all the materials used in the egg processing chain are given a second life.
Oil, glass, wood, cardboard, steel - none of them escape the rule of waste recovery.
Water cycle
Since 1997, IGRECA has been committed to responsible management of the water cycle from its production facilities.
As this industrial activity requires the same amount of water as a town of 25,000 inhabitants, there was no question of discharging wastewater directly into the environment.
IGRECA therefore chose to build a wastewater treatment plant at the same time as its plant, enabling it to monitor the quality of discharged water on a daily basis, thus guaranteeing discharges with zero impact on the environment.
Filtration, temperature, bacteriology... a specialized engineer carries out a series of quality tests every day.
And animal welfare, alternative eggs:
For over 15 years, IGRECA has been committed to promoting alternative types of farming. IGRECA is continuing on its path to support societal change, and is committed to producing and offering its customers, by 2025, only egg products from alternative farming methods, i.e. hens raised on the GROUND, in the FULL AIR and from ORGANIC farming.
Everything in the egg is exploited... even the shell!
Eggshells consist mainly of limestone. Crushed and mixed with plant composts, it is reused in agriculture to enrich soils in need of calcium amendments.
As with the use of water, IGRECA withdraws natural elements which it then returns to the environment, with a neutral or even positive impact, thus forming a veritable virtuous cycle.
